Herbie
Herbie is a retired economics professor. He has been taking pictures, off and on, since he was ten years old. His first photos were taken with a box camera that used 120 film. He graduated to a Voigtlander Baby Bessa , and 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ images. Years later, he acquired a complete Canon FtB system and did his own developing and printing – only black and white. Subjects were family and friends. After a 14 year layoff, he bought a digital camera to take a special family photo. Then, intrigued with the wonder of digital, he acquired an “enthusiast” Canon camera and committed to photographing nature’s beautiful flowers, leaves, and trees. He uses PhotoShop Elements , and does his own printing. Now, recording the magnificence of the beauty that surrounds us, on our streets and in our neighbors’ gardens, is the challenge that he aspires to meet. At this phase in his life, after a career in academia devoted to infusing students with an understanding and appreciation for the art of Economics, Herbie now hopes that his new “art” (digital images) will excite others to appreciate with him the splendor of nature that is about us.
