Jan Ford
Jan Ford has been a professional watercolor artist for thirty years. She continues to travel to many different states, participating in the finest art festivals in the country. Her art training started with a degree from Ohio State University and was followed by instruction from a number of well-known watercolor artists. Jan is an artist member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Potomac Valley Watercolorists. She is an associate member of the Southern Watercolor Society, the American Watercolor Society, and the National Watercolor Society. She has been honored with numerous awards. Her work has been published in American Artist Magazine, Rockport Publisher's Best of Watercolor: Painting Color, and Color Q Calendar and major ad campaign.
Jan's work is always executed with transparent watercolor on paper. She places emphasis on beautiful color development and on strong design. She speaks to her viewer through sensitive and creative expression of familiar subjects, subjects that encompass her life experiences. She was brought up on a dairy farm in central Ohio; her mother loved flowers and gardening. This inspiration is frequently reflected in Jan's work.
Recently, she has enjoyed licensing success. Whatever she does, she has but one aim and that is to connect with the viewers of her work and thereby bring them joy. In regard to her images, the most frequent
remark heard from her customers is, "That painting makes me feel happy". When she hears this, she knows that she has succeeded---she knows that she has accomplished her goal.
